Eid Decorations

Festivals have always been associated with vibrant colors, flashy decors and elaborate celebrations. Decorations append to an altogether different kind of charm to the festivities. Eid is one of the most awaited festivals of Muslims and thus, with time the enthusiasm too increases to a great extent. Not only people bedeck themselves with new clothes and accessories, but they give a new look to their surroundings as well.

Similar to Diwali for Hindus and Christmas for Christians, on Eid, Muslims white wash their houses and adorn it with different traditional items. Green is considered to be the holy color amongst Muslims and thus, a great deal of it is used in decorative items. Big and flashy flowers are made and hanged on the doors and windows of the house.

The decorations start with the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan. However, offering prayers remain the highlight of these days, but people and especially children indulge in various Eid crafts too in order to celebrate the occasion. They make Eid cards, crescent moon, paper flowers, hangings, gift bags and other items.

We give you some interesting indoor decoration tips with which you can embellish your house and prepare for the oncoming festivities :

Indoor Decoration Tips

The easiest and cheapest way of decorating your house is to hang to the ceilings some enticing pieces of moons and stars. Cut the gold foil in the shape of stars. Glue it on both sides of a card board cut into the same shape. In order to make 'Eid chand' (crescent moon), cut the silver foil and a piece of card board into the same shape. Attach these moon and star shaped pieces with string and hang on the ceiling of your house.

Outdoor Decoration Tips

You can make the Eid banners on your own. Make religious flags and Patakas at the entrance of your house. To make Pataka or a series of flags, take paper or cloth of traditional Muslim colors and make religious symbols on them with the help of either oil paint or ink stamps. Put them in a party decorative strings and hang them with their ends.

It is a tedious task to make children sit during prayers, but if you let them indulge in these activities they would surely enjoy themselves. So, follow these simple tips and make your Eid colorful and jazzed up.
