How is Ramadan Decided?
Ramadan starts with the sighting of the crescent moon (hilal) and last for a period of one month. When the hilal is visible again at the end of the month, it is the time to celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr (break the fast).
Ramadan Routine
Ramadan is the ninth month of Islamic calendar and Muslims follow Islamic calendar, which is generally 13 days shorter than the solar calendar .so whether the Ramadan dates of the year 2007 will be similar to the dates of the year 2006 no one can say. When will the month of Ramadan will start can only be decided when the crescent moon (hilal) is visible. The Sighting of the hilal marks the beginning of the Ramadan. If hilal is seen at night then the next day is the first day of Ramadan and fasting. On the similar lines when the hilal is visible again at the end of the month, it is the time to celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr (break the fast). Ramadan continues for 29 to 30 days. The estimated dates of the Ramadan for the next years are given below:
Ramadan 2007: 12/13 September to 12 October.
